TECHNOLOGY serves people, communities. We draws upon the most incredible technology mankind has created over the skies and serve communities.
Partners in Sustainable Agriculture and Disaster Resilience in Southeast Asia
Petra Geospace is a dedicated Community Social Enterprise committed to driving sustainable development across Southeast Asia. With over 18 years of experience in disaster response through our partnership with the International Disaster Response Network (IDRN), we have worked in areas such as: mapping rapid transient flow floods in Malaysia and Thailand, as well as urban disaster mitigation using NASA SEDAC open-domain data. These efforts underscore our expertise in leveraging geospatial technology for resilience-building.
As we look to the future, Petra Geospace is expanding its work to agricultural innovation, aiming to help transform farming practices across ASEAN nations. Our platform integrates Satellite + GIS technology with crop data analytics tailored specifically for smallholder farmers in ASEAN, starting from countries like Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia. By addressing key challenges such as financial inclusion and productivity optimization, we empower farmers with actionable insights and tools to enhance their livelihoods.
Our fintech solutions provide seasonal micro-loans at an affordable low interest rate per crop season –very short term implemented by digital finance, ensuring access to vital resources for cultivation. Additionally, we offer comprehensive services including crop analysis, in-season crop satellite analysed cultivation guides, and decision-support systems designed for low-bandwidth environments. Our revenue model is built on loan facilitation fees, commissions on agricultural services, and subscription for high-level agencies monitoring services—ensuring both sustainability and scalability.
The work:
- The regional and global awareness, diligence to connect, in happy times, in disasters; in cultivation and in harvests. To serve the needs on the ground.
- Satellites in the skies trawl the EARTH everyday now. Loads of information and knowledge is being generated everyday that required the detailed ground pin-pointing. the convergence of events and signatures seen from the skies above. We fuse them, for the service of communities
- Doing the hard part: delivering insights from data and knowledge base. To serve the communities in cultivation, harvest, in responding to floods, fire-storms. Serving people to cooperate and collaborate for good, for peace.

GIS Geographic Information System
A geographic information system (GIS) is a system designed to capture, store, manipulate, analyze, manage, and present all types of geographical data.

Satellite: Earth Observation
Satellite data is collection of data structured information about earth observation charateristics measurement.
The scientific percilarities of instruments can now be processed to a level that can be commonly distributed and analysed with direct reference to terresterial locations.

Technology has also advanced in timeliness, ground resolution, structured dense pixels over large geographical areas. The forms of satellite earth observation data is not massivley scalable, AI implemented analytics to provide timely, localised insights to community, national, continental knowledge into the human dimension of social, economic activities.
These two domain data information system an be combined with other geo-referenced socio-demographic, economic and public administration data to make indicators and analysis more relevant and targeted.
Earth observation is not new, but it is only recently that investments in satellite capabilities, open and free access to data and tools, and advances in algorithms and data processing have started to enable the widespread use of this information at scale, and beyond the specialised scientific community.
